Symbols of Now Reiki

Power

This is the Power Symbol of Now Reiki. I use it as a switch to turn the power on. The power (universal life energy) is always available. The symbol can help focus and raise your energy. Think of it as lighting a candle in a dark room.

Draw from the top left, then down. Next spin the line around the staff to wind it up. I like to visualize it as a wizard’s wand for positive energy.

You draw the symbol 3 times in your hand or visualize it 3 times to consciously switch on the universal energy of Now Reiki.  

Healing

This symbol is used for healing, protection, purification, and clearing. Draw from the top left side, then down. Next, draw from the top, then down the right side. Finish the symbol with the two handles or ears on the right side.

It also can be used for emotional healing. In combinations with other symbols, it can be used to cleanse or charge crystals. It reminds me of the head sculptures of Easter Island.

For direct healing, use the power symbol combined with the healing symbol.

Your intent to heal and help others is more important than any technique or symbol.

New Beginning Music Meditation

Sit in a comfortable chair or on the floor using a Zafu or meditation bench.

Rest your hands in your lap or on your thighs. With your hands held open and palms facing up, close your eyes.

Breathe in the white light of Now Reiki through your crown and imagine that it fills up your body.

During each exhalation, visualize all negativity and resistance leaving your body. Repeat until all the resistance to energy flow is gone, and you radiate the light of Now Reiki.

With this new beginning, you have started your journey into the experience of Now Reiki.

Universal Life (Force) Energy and Reiki History

Reiki is a name for a form of hands-on healing, with its origins in India and the East dating back many thousands of years. The original names, disciplines and techniques of Reiki have disappeared over the centuries. When exactly this ancient art of healing disappeared is unknown. However, we do know that it was rediscovered by a Japanese Scholar and Monk named Dr. Mikao Usui. It was in fact Dr. Usui who fashioned the name ‘Reiki’.

Reiki is a two-syllable Japanese word meaning universal life force. Although the proper Japanese pronunciation is RYE-KEY, it has been westernized to RAY-KEY.

Rei means universal or everywhere at the same time. Esoterically Rei means spiritual consciousness and wisdom from the higher self.

Ki is the energy that gives life to all living things. Many cultures recognize the importance of Ki energy and how it impacts our lives and well-being. Ki energy can be activated for the purpose of healing. When you feel healthy and full of enthusiasm, the flow of Ki energy in your body is high and free flowing. Life seems easier to deal with and you have a higher resistance to illness and disease.

Dr. Usui developed Reiki from his experiences on Mt. Kumara. He had a Satori, a moment of Oneness, an awakening to his true nature. In that Oneness, he developed Reiki.

When you are under stress or feeling tired, your Ki energy is low. You will be more susceptible to disease and sickness. Your attitude will be generally negative and you will find it difficult to deal with life's challenges.

Reiki is holistic; it works on the body, mind and spirit by stimulating a person’s own natural healing abilities. The blocked emotional and physical elements that lead to illness and disease are cleared. Reiki is neither positive nor negative; it is, in fact, the vibration of life. It allows us all to become one with all things alive in our world. Reiki is an unconditional experience of harmony. The best way to understand how Reiki works is to experience it.

Dr. Usui used the word ’intuitive’ to describe Reiki energy because it seems to have its own intelligence that guides it to where it is needed. Each part of the body or life issue receives the healing energy needed.

The Reiki Dr. Usui taught consisted of:

• Meditation techniques

• Breathing exercises

• Spiritual cleansing

• The reciting of spiritual poetry

• The Reiki principles

• Empowerments

• Attunements

• Hands-on healing techniques

• Distance healing

• Both breath and the eyes were used to focus the healing energy

Dr. Usui used his intuition to sense which parts of the body needed healing. For those who had difficulty with developing an intuitive style, symbols and mantras were introduced to help them focus. Later a manual with hand positions was created.

My goal in Now Reiki is to return to the more intuitive style of energy work.

There are two main streams of Reiki: a Japanese version with more emphasis on the meditative and spiritual side of the system, and a more western-orientated form with emphasis on the symbols and attunements.

In Japan it is common to spend several years practicing meditation to enhance spiritual growth, and to regularly study in groups of like-minded people under the guidance of a master. This is a great way to gradually raise your frequency/vibration, develop your intuition and open up more fully to the universal life force.

The Reiki system traditionally taught in the West consists of attunements, symbols, hand positions and techniques.

Often attunements are seen as a way to raise your vibration. Symbols are a tool to focus and increase your energy. Now Reiki will use techniques from Usui Reiki, as well as, awareness and stillness meditations and conscious breathing to increase the flow of universal energy.

There is an energy that gives life to every living organism. For many thousands of years we have known of this energy and have sought to develop ways to harness its power to heal and influence our lives. The Japanese call this energy Ki. It is also known as Chi by the Chinese, and Prana by a number of Asian cultures.

Now Reiki Energy is ever-present in our bodies. This means anyone can harness this profound intelligent energy for healing.

A Uniquely Effective Approach to Hands On Healing...

There is only One of us... and there is only Now.

Reiki is a system of energy work that promotes deep healing and can lead to profound transformation. In Japan it is known as Usui Reiki Ryoho, which has been loosely translated as "The Usui System of Natural Healing". The Japanese kanji of rei-ki literally translate as "spirit energy", usually understood as "Universal Life Force Energy". During the Meiji era in Japan, Mikao Usui developed a remarkably effective way of focusing this energy for healing and transformation.

I started practicing hands-on healing in the 70s, with results that were a bit hit & miss. I found that headaches and colds could be reduced or even healed entirely in a few minutes of "laying on of hands", but that was about it using what I knew then. Eventually I learned Reiki, which proved more reliable in getting results.

Eventually I began teaching Reiki as well as practicing it, having become a Reiki Master in the Usui lineage. I soon found that the Reiki techniques I had learned weren't so well known among American Reiki people, since Rita, my Reiki teacher, had added in some useful techniques she had learned from other sources, some she had developed herself, as well as Japanese healing techniques mostly unknown to the American Reiki community at that time.

Since then I have studied and practiced numerous other energy healing techniques... some wise, some otherwise. Now Reiki ( http://nowreiki.com/ ) is truly the best and most comprehensive system I have encountered recently. For those sincerely interested in learning effective energy healing, I recommend it completely.

Now, I'm not attached to what anyone calls any particular technique... Reiki, Quantum-Touch, Regenesis, Matrix Energetics, name-it-after-yourself, whatever... they're all just names for (in some ways) different ways of working (or playing) with energy.

Imagine, what would it be like to find a way of healing that is truly powerful and effective? Like when you begin to experience it, you find that it affects you not only physically, you feel better on all levels in a way that can last and last...

There is only One of us here, and there is only Now. This is the basis of All That Is, and of my connection with anyone I work with. Master

The Master or Teacher symbol is used for attunements and healing.

Note the power Godess spiral and tiny lightning bolt inside.

It can add even more focus and energy to your healings. It also works to increase immune energy.

To charge or clear crystals use the master, then healing, stillness, and power symbols while holding the crystal.

Stillness Symbol of Now Reiki

Stillness

This symbol I call stillness. It is a departure from Traditional Reiki and at the core of Now Reiki.

It is composed of five sub symbols. The bottom part is like a wave for water. Next up is the curve of a flame for fire.

Further up is the swirl of wind or air. Above that is a mountain, also the character of man. Finally on top the a bent character for Pi. This is oneness, spirit or beyond time.

So to read it from top to bottom you have One Spirit, earth, air, fire, water. The four elements brought together under the symbol of beyond time.
