All natural Phenomena, from the smallest microorganisms to the galaxies, are rhythmic. We ourselves are rhythmic beings, from our breathing and heartbeat to the more hidden circulation of energies through our bodies.....Rhythm seems to define life itself. Earlier human beings understood this and sought to embody a living sense of time based on the rhythmic workings of nature in all aspects of their lives. Today, however, we live cut off from these rhythms....
We now live almost exclusively in space. Living time, once the great unifier, was reduced to linear, external objective clock time: spatial, tape-measure time. We lost the sense of cyclical process and activity. We lost time's wholeness, in which everything is interconnected and recursive....
